1899 — Unissued 4¢ Lincoln, Die 104, Type II overprint — brown on white / marrón s. blanca
Thorp Knife 51a envelope, Size 7, with flap = 50 mm and sides over back bottom.
Handwritten, erased: "No. 7, first quality"
This is a unique Lincoln envelope from the collection donated by A. Eugene Michel to the U.S. National Postal Museum.
Of the 5000 printed, supposedly 4999 were destroyed on orders of the Post Office Department.
